Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior official commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
